Over 160 households picked up trees. Most took the maximum limit of 10 trees. That's a lot of new trees being planted in our county!

One hundred sixty-three residents showed up to pick up some trees. This is always such a popular event. Next year we will definitely try to get more Redbuds and Dogwoods. We ran out of those very early in the day. Thanks to everyone who stopped by.

Mr. Holt was recommended by the local Natural Resources Conservation Service to receive this award for his stewardship efforts on his farm in Bullitt County. This award is given annually to a producer who is using good conservation practices to preserve and enhance their acreage. Conservation District Board Chairman, Leon Dawson, presented Mr. Holt with his award and signage for his farm.

]]><![CDATA[Master conservationist]]>Wed, 17 May 2023 14:12:05 GMThttps://www.bullittcountysoilconservation.com/whats-new-at-soil-conservation/master-conservationistWe are pleased to announce that our 2022 Master Conservationist is Mr. Lewis Kerberg. Mr. Kerberg has worked with Soil Conservation, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Division of Forestry to make numerous improvements to his land. Mr. Kerberg has implemented timber stand improvement and wildlife habitat programs on his property. Funding from the Kentucky Office of Ag Policy, through the County Ag Incentive Program (CAIP), assisted Mr. Kerberg with equipment purchases used for lumber production from his own trees. Several Bullitt County Soil Conservation Board members, NRCS staff and Mr. Kerberg's father gathered for the award presentation and a chance to view the improvements that have been made. Board Chairman, Bill Harned, was on hand to make the presentation.

Our board members are elected officials who represent our citizens and work diligently to identify and meet the conservation needs of our county. Mr. Henderman chose to retire at the end of his term this year but we know we can count on him to continue to support all of us in our conservation efforts. Bill Harned, Board Chairman, presented George Henderman with a plaque to commemorate the occasion.

The theme for the year was WE ALL NEED WATER. Below are some pictures of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winning posters. All of the winners are students at Shepherdsville Elementary.
